Mythological references to Vijaya Ekadashi

As per the legend, Lord Rama observed this Vijaya Ekadashi to find a means to cross Lanka, fight with Ravana and save Sita. When Lord Rama reached to Samudra (sea), he was unaware of the route ahead. He observed Vijaya Ekadashi fast as per the advice of the saint Bakad Albhya Muni. He won over Ravana and got Sita back.

This significance of Vijaya Ekadashi has been narrated by Lord Brahma to Narada. In Skanda Purana also there is a reference to the importance of Vijaya Ekadashi. Lord Krishna also told Yudhistra about the greatness of Vijaya Ekadashi and said that those who observe Vijaya Ekadashi will be relieved of their sins and get success in life.

By observing Vijaya Ekadashi, one is able to get rid of the sins and guilt created by the sins and also one gets victory in his enterprises. Observance of this Ekadashi is the same like other Ekadashi vratas and some people do not sleep on this day.

Let us celebrate Vijaya Ekadashi to get rid of our sins and gain victory in our attempts in life.
